My name is Rebecca Willmann-Albrecht, and I am a self professed PT nerd. I LOVE this profession.
I have wanted to be a PT since I was 16 years old and I have never regretted the decision. I read research for fun (see, I told you I was a nerd), and I am constantly learning new techniques and creating new programs. I love science, I am passionate about exercise and healthy living, and I have been running for 20 years.
So, basically I was born to be a PT.
Unfortunately, after 16 years in the corporate PT world, I found myself growing tired of insurance companies deciding what care my patients could receive (while providing very little actual PT coverage) and corporate management pushing me to see 3 to 4 patients at a time – limiting my ability to provide the quality care that my patients needed.
The “profits over patients” mindset was everywhere and it just didn’t align with my personal beliefs. I went into this profession to help people and when the traditional PT model failed to allowed me to do that, I knew I had to find a better way to deliver the quality care that my patients deserved.
That’s why I created WholeBody – a unique hybrid physical therapy, massage therapy, and running clinic that can not only treat your everyday aches and pains, but also has specialty programs in cycling, swimming, postpartum rehab, chronic pain, lifestyle medicine, and plant based nutrition.
My dream of starting a running clinic started 7 years ago, when I, myself, was an injured runner. For the first time in 13 years, I could not quickly and easily heal myself and was faced with the real possibility that I was going to have to take a step back from the sport that I loved – an option that was unacceptable to me (I plan to run until I’m 100!).
I desperately looked for someone to help me run pain free. When I was unable to find the program I needed, I knew I had to MAKE the program myself. Thankfully, I have been blessed with a relentless spirit and after 4 months, I was ultimately able to resolve my pain. This started my long journey to developing this program.
Being able to help my fellow runners enjoy our sport pain free is truly a dream come true.
